Offering practical tools to ensure our clients achieve their best.
At Shining Star Adult Day Center, we provide compassionate, person-centered care for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Our team focuses on building practical skills that support greater independence at home, at work, and in the community. Each day, clients participate in structured activities that promote communication, social interaction, self-care, and decision-making.
We also incorporate basic behavioral management goals into every program. Through positive reinforcement, clear routines, and gentle coaching, we help clients learn healthy ways to manage emotions, follow directions, and stay engaged. Our goal is to create a safe, respectful environment where adults can grow in confidence, practice new skills, and experience meaningful success.

Compassionate Behavioral Care

Mastering New Skills that Foster Independence and Self-Advocacy
Life Skills Training
At Shining Star Adult Day Center, we help adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities build everyday life skills that support greater independence. Through guided practice and positive encouragement, clients work on communication, self-care, time management, problem-solving, and making safe, confident choices at home and in the community.
We also focus on healthy self-advocacy. Our team teaches clients how to speak up for their needs, ask questions, and express preferences in a clear, respectful way. By learning to use their voice, understand their rights, and participate in decisions about their own care, clients gain confidence and a stronger sense of control over their lives.

Volunteer and Vocational Opportunities
At Shining Star Adult Day Center, we help adults with disabilities build real-world job skills through consistent, supportive practice. In a structured, encouraging environment, participants work on the everyday habits that matter most in the workplace—showing up on time, dressing appropriately, and following through on tasks from start to finish.
Through volunteer and pre-vocational activities, our team coaches each person on staying organized, listening to instructions, asking for help when needed, and taking pride in a job well done. By practicing these skills regularly, adults gain confidence, reliability, and a stronger foundation for future employment opportunities.
